Saving the world...

What a beautiful day we had here, I think the high got to around 11 C and not even much wind. It is still 7 degrees but it is monsoon windy out now. I drove the truck in to the Garage today as it needed an oil change and inspection blah blah blah....I swear just thinking of the appointment made the truck decide the 4 wheel drive lights would come on and off and on again as well as the neutral light. These lights take their turn as to what ones stay on and off. Then the passengers windows decided they wouldn't work either....so I took the truck in hopefully to get it back before Randy goes back to work. Randy picked me up from the Gym today and we went out for lunch which was great! mmmmm Vietnamese!
Randy did most of the kids newspapers today only later to realize slipping in the slush really hurt his knee which made him very frustrated.....he goes back to the surgeon on the 25th.
We couldn't have been home 10 minutes and and Randy said his throat hurts....took a nap only to wake up with everything aching, sore throat and a fever! Apparently he feels " as though he was dragged behind a vehicle for 3 - 4 miles". Wow, that happened fast...he has just worked 11 out of the last 15 days with switching his days and nights back and forth several times....I guess it has to catch up with him sometime.

So back to saving the world.... I'd decided to go get some Glenfiddich ( apparently the sore throat saver) and Cold fx for myself. I drove just up the street to find a little boy standing in the middle of the intersection. I know this isn't the middle of Calgary but it was 5:00 and it gets a little busy at this time even here! This little guy was standing there looking around without an adult to be seen anywhere. So, the mother in me stops the car and asks where his mommy was....no answer, the little guy was way too young and doesn't appear to be talking much. Just then he starts to walk up the middle of the road toward the traffic. So I park, get out and the little guy looks a little scared as he should be because a truck was headed right toward us. I took his hand and he was totally okay with that and asked him where his mommy was. All he replied was, "Dad" a few times as though he is looking for his dad. So we wander about for a moment and I figure I'd walk to a house close by and ask if they knew who he was. Just then I hear a little kid up the block playing outside... The little boy turns out to be his brother and their mom walks out of the garage talking on the phone, without hanging up she immediatley gets upset at the little boy I found and stammers out a thank you to me. What is wrong with people....on the phone while her 2to 3 year old is half way up the block in the middle of the road as people are driving home from work....and she doesn't notice? Let alone gets upset at him! I am sure she sensed my frustration as I was very blunt about where I found him and the vehicles driving around him..... I definitley couldn't have been a social worker!

Later ...Julia and I are looking after the neighbors cat and we were feeding "kitty" as Julia noticed a huge fur ball hopping across the kitchen floor... it was the frog who had escaped its cage and was hopping around the house trailing a huge dust ball stuck to him. (what a fun toy for the cat!) Amazingly Kitty, who has a degree in mousing, hadn't noticed this moving dust ball. That frog wouldn't have stood a chance had Kitty seen it, even with the Kitty's permanent limp...which our Henri gave her about a month ago....(but that is a dif. story!)

Thats right saving kids and frogs.... busy week!
