After arriving in Fort Lauderdale....taking back the rental vehicle and finding the bus to the port, we realize that the Westerdam is not leaving port on Saturday! It is leaving on Sunday! Well, we now have another night in Fort Lauderdale. After a big panic moment...we were happy to realize that we were a day early and not late. We stayed a night at the Embassy Suites and the kids couldn’t have loved it more. The pool was large, the room was large and really nice, and we had free drinks in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Other than all of the people who had free drinks and were swimming in the evening, the kids had the pool to themselves.
The ship has two pools in which we have now been in both. I am thinking that there are a lot of older people on the ship as there doesn’t seem to be many people in the pool areas....all the better for us.
Julia and I ran a few laps around the ship this evening and Randy and Mike walked a few. Julia is great! She just kept up with me....in the rain, wind, and darkness. Every time we went around one side of the deck the wind and rain hit us like a wall....however it is really hot, humid and the rain is warm. Someone thought they’d offer us a thoughtfull comment saying “wow...you guys are brave....or stupid!” It was actually really nice, as long as you don’t think about how huge the black ocean is right next to you and what if the boat tipped and you slid off the side and the railing broke and off you went into the dark pit of salt water...to be eaten by sharks....:).
Our room is much larger than the interior room on our last cruise...The balcony is awesome...a little wet I guess as it is raining a little, the bathroom has a full size deep tub and Randy and I have a king size bed.Comfy! We have free room service that I will take advantageof in the morning....I plan on having coffee on my balcony in the middle of the ocean;-).
