Lightning 11 months old
Lightning about 6 weeks old

Today Lightning is one year old....and about 145 lbs! Wow, what a huge puppy. Ironically, I tripped over his fat butt today carrying a load of laundry and gave myself a nice bruise on my forearm...he was terribly concerned for me and stood there looking at me as I made some thoughtful remarks. I admit I am a "little" bit of a klutz. He is a great dog although very large and hairy.... which makes any little misbehaving act a large one at any time. He has successfully eaten lots of butter off the counter, broken numerous dishes and even knocked over the Christmas tree...it was ready to com
e down anyway. He doesn't however, chew things and that is really good, he loves the cats maybe a little too much and couldn't be more lovable. He is really like a small indoor horse.:)
We were at a Tae Kwon Do Tournament in Cochrane yesterday. It was lots of fun, this was Mike's first tournament so it was quite a learning experience for him, he realized it isn't so scary and was pleased to see how it all works. Mike brought home a bronze medal in his pattern and is very pleased. Julia did really great in her patter
n and sparring bringing home a bronze medal in sparring. She survived a good pop to the head and continued with a bloody nose and lip. She looked at us with her mouth guard in and sniffed in the blood as she smiled at us. She is tough! Randy felt sorry for her but she was really holding her own. I worked my butt off and brought home a gold medal in sparring. My ankle has been sprained again for the last week and I went over on it the last second of the match that is right I fell down again! ...only to go into overtime...twice! I couldn't feel it after that...now it is sore. The kids were great as they cheered me on ..."Go Mom" as the other ladies kids were doing the same to her. Luckily I won and you can hear Julia on the video tape saying "Yes".
Happy Birthday Lightning!
